Good Knife, Bigger Than I Expected December 20, 2008 This is a great knife with lots of tools that will come in handy. It looked sturdy and well constructed. Unfortunately, it was way too bulky for me to carry around in my pocket. I returned it and opted for a simpler knife without all the extras. Why? So I could have a thinner knife that was easier to carry.
Another Great SAK November 19, 2008 Since purchasing my first Victorinox knife last year, I've become a big fan. In fact I've now purchased 10 different models. Of these the Explorer Plus is one of my favorites (along w/ the Deluxe Tinker and Swiss Champ). The fit and finish on Victorinox knives is excellent, and they are durable, useful tools. IMO the Explorer Plus has a very useful tool set, and is still easily pocketable. I particularly like the in line Phillips driver, and the magnifying glass. Also, I highly recommend the "Plus" scales over the regular Explorer model (which adds a straight pin, a very useful ball point pen, and a mini eye glass screwdriver to the usual tweezers, and toothpick. I've found these items more useful than I would have imagined. The 4 layer SAKs are hard to beat if you're looking for a useful pocket tool that doesn't cause your pants to droop.
What a great knife, I use it every day October 14, 2008 Based on other reviews I purchased this knife and it does not disappoint. Small enough to fit in my pocket, but so useful every day!
Beyond two sharp and useful blades, here are my highlights: 1. The sissors are surprisingly useful, despite their small size 2. The pen is handy for me, since I don't wear shirts with pockets very often and have nowhere to keep a pen 3. The mini screwdriver is a great addition as well, very cleverly incorporated into the corkscrew (does anyone ever use the corkscrew?) 4. I seem to use the screwdrivers daily, they seem to hold up great even when the screw is less than cooperative (stuck) 5. On prior Swiss Army knives I discovered the can opener works surprisingly well, given the size
Explorer Plus is always my choice September 5, 2008 The Victorinox Swiss Army Explorer Plus Pocket Knife is the best choice among the many Swiss Army Knife products. For me it is the most practical and useful Swiss Army knife. I have owned several of this model over the past 30 years; I use it every day and I use every feature. The location of the Phillips (cross) screwdriver makes it practical; the scissers and magnifying lens are used all the time; it has the ideal combination of features and its size is not overwhelming in the pocket. It is also my choice as a gift.
It's a Swiss Army Knife... What can I say? September 2, 2008 I carry this knife every day. Other than the knife of course, I find the scissors and the Phillips head indispensable. Victroinox... The only Swiss Army Knife to own!
