About Coleman The Coleman Company has been creating and innovating products for recreational outdoor use since W.C. Coleman started selling gasoline-powered lanterns in 1900. Inventor of the hugely popular fold-up camp stove, Coleman developed a plastic liner for his galvanized steel coolers in 1957--the birth of the modern cooler--and the company has been improving their utility and design ever since. The array of products that bear the Coleman name now includes just about everything you might need to work or play outdoors, from tents and sleeping bags to boats, backpacks, and furniture.

Keep one at home and one in every car you own September 30, 2008 This blanket was easily the best purchase I have made recently. It's versatility in going from blanket to poncho to picnic tarp is bar none best. One side is soft fleece while the other is waterproof nylon. Whether on the beach or on dewy grass, there's no worries about water seeping through and ruining any potential romantic destinations. As a camp blanket, it's light enough to take the place of a sleeping bag (depending on conditions). One can freely lay it across a pile of leaves (which are dry on top but wet underneath).
Having praised this blanket, it's time to move on to the one and only con; When wearing this blanket as a poncho, the hard plastic velcro strips tend to poke right in the forehead or the corners will dig into the scalp. The discomfort it can cause is sometimes unreal. Also, the hoodie (that the blanket tucks into when stored) makes for a slightly smaller and less open-faced opening than I would like.
For picnics, I would recommend purchasing a small sized neet sheet to place the food on as there is simply not enough room for two people and food containers.
The choice is in your hands now, may everything work out and you enjoy this item as much as I do.
Great blanket! August 19, 2008 I had the neat sheet before and it was sold out so I bought this. I live in Chicago and we go to many events every year in the parks where you need a blanket, and this one is perfect. It's not as big as the neat sheet, but it is more water repellent, and if it starts raining or gets cold, makes a great blanket or poncho as well. My husband and I hovered under it during a rainstorm watching the Blues Brothers in a park! I may get another one so that we both have a poncho in case of rain.
Love it August 17, 2008 if it's cold and raining at a sports event - you'll stay warm and dry
Coleman Roadtrip Blanket July 28, 2008 This was a great purchase! I used it for several days on an outdoor camping trip, it rolled up well to fit on the front of my backpack and kept us dry when sitting on the ground. I also used it as a parka during a storm, it was warm and dry.
I did have an issue the first time that I washed it, after returning from my trip. I followed the label instructions and the inside pouch came unglued. I returned the item without a problem, but I don't think I would ever put it in the dryer again. Other than that, the price was right and it is a great item that will definitely be going on all of my camping trips.
Practical and multi-purpose June 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When unfolded, this blanket is larger than I realized. Definitely big enough for two to sit on for a picnic. It's not very thick, I'd recommend bringing another blanket to put on top if it's convenient, but the waterproof backing is SO useful! The poncho is useful as well, especially since it's fleece-lined. I'm not sure how often owners would use the "stadium seat", but the other two uses are enough for me.
