Time tested quality July 23, 2010 Darren W. Olsen I've owned a few 4-cell maglites over a period of 27 years. They are extremely durable and produce an incredible amount of illumination. By simply twisting the head, you can go from floodlight to spot very quickly. They are very water resistant as well. During my past line of work, my maglight also served as an effective alternative baton.
The only drawback is if you are a boater, they definitely do not float if dropped overboard. If you are a back packer, I wouldn't recommend this due to weight issues. I would recommend the mini-maglite instead which also offers great illumination, the same flood to spot feature, and is very durable and water-resistant, but is much lighter (it only needs two AA cells). Aside from that, I couldn't be happier. They are the best flashlights you can get for the price.
6-D Maglite Flashlight; The Last Flashlight You'll Ever Need! July 21, 2010 D.Fish (Fishers, IN) MAGLITE flashlights won me over about four years ago. Maglites work in rain and snow, are very bright and last an exceptionally long time. I originally got my Maglite 6-D flashlight as a back up to my Surefire 6P LED, however, the Maglite soon won me over. Now I use th Surefire as a backup to my Maglite! Great flashlight, would recommend.
Strange Package July 16, 2010 ClaudelleJJ I ordered a flashlight for Father's Day and expecting it in a new package like the MAGLITE C Cell flashlight I ordered but it was wrapped in newspaper. The piece that detachs at the bottom was in an old ziploc bag. The flashlight looked pretty new but I've never received a package like that. I will be ordering another flashlight soon but I wonder how its going to be packaged.
A flashlight you could beat a grizzly bear to death with. June 27, 2010 Evan Watson This is an excellent light, which I mounted in my car with the MAGLITE Mounting Bracket (also of exemplary construction). It is quite bright, well-constructed, and rests easily on the shoulder when held in the hand. It was an unparalleled $25 when I bought it, and absolutely worth that pittance. I wrapped around it a good length of duct tape and electrical tape, and thus made it a dispenser of each.
excellent April 16, 2010 Joshua D. Armato If you want a super heavy duty flashlight that can also be used for self defense then this flashlight is for you!
