Product Description The classic, long-burning collapsible candle lantern. Lightweight and compact, the patented Candle Lantern provides 9 hours of warm light from a single candle. It is perfectly suited to backpacking, mountaineering, snow camping and similar outdoor pursuits and simple to maintain and operate. The unique, spring loaded candle tube insures a constant flame height and minimal wax spillage. This lantern works exceptionally well inside a tent on winter hiking and camping trips. Lighting the candle lantern is easier than ever with Uco's easy lighting system. The chimney quickly and easily slides down inside the lantern to give the user instant access to the candle area. Once lit, the chimney slides back up into its original position.

Long Lasting for Power Outages and Camping, can use Citronella candles October 20, 2009 Book Fan (California) These little lanterns have been very useful to us throughout the years. What I like is that it is a fairly safe way to use candles for lighting and walking around the house when the power is out. I really like the collapsable design and the other features, such as handle and hook, though if I haven't used them in a while I have to figure out again how to use them. We keep some with our flashlights and some with our camping equipment.
When camping we put the citronella candles inside, not sure how well they help. Also, when suspended for a length of time at the top of the tent, I found the hook itself got too hot (burned my finger when I tried to move it), so i need to be careful about that in the future.
It's cute February 26, 2009 Kyung Yang (Flushing, NY) A reliable light source out in the bush. I like the fact that I can visually gauge the usage amount of candle left by removing the candle holder from the bottom. The chain is long enough to keep it far enough from the tent to prevent possible melting of fabric. Would like it to be a bit less heavy, but not a design flaw. Very cute and collapsible compact design.
Nice little lamp February 23, 2009 Playapup Productions (San Diego, CA USA) I have had an Aluminum one for about 15 years now and it has seen a lot of use. I finally just broke down and but the spare parts kit as the spring was getting weak. Ok folks it's a candle, so not real bright, but there are a lot of times when not to bright is the way to go. And this thing stays lit in heavy winds too.
I have been very happy with it.
Perfect for your Disaster Preparedness Kit February 19, 2009 Gary Diana (Terre Haute, IN USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Last summer, my area was hit with severe flooding. My street was without power for more than a week. This little candle lantern was perfect for me during the time I was without my lights. First, candles are a lot easier on the eyes than a bright flashlight and second, candles are a lot cheaper than batteries. Candles can be put into your lantern along with a book of matches and they will never go dead, they don't need checking every year or changing. They lay there in the drawer, ready for use when they are needed and you don't have to give them a second thought.
This UCO Candle Lantern is great because you can easily hang it from a nail. If you do tip it over, it is enclosed and doesn't immediately cause a fire or make a mess of hot wax. If you also add the reflector for the top of it, the light is easily bright enough to read by and I did just that for most of that week.
I am just added the bigger Candlelier to my "kit" so that I will have and even brighter light in case there is another problem here. While I hope it never happens again, I try to always be ready in case it does. It is also a great light for camping and backpacking because it is small and durable and easy to pack plus it is very light in weight. This is an easy product to recommend to anyone.
Light from flame! January 10, 2009 K. Miller (Arlington, VA USA) If you want to have a light and appreciate the ambiance and nuisances of fire to provide it this is a great place to have a safe start with it. It's sturdy, packable and throws a good bit of light. It's not a flashlight by any means and you will have wax drips and need to replace the candle.
